War with the Unseen: Nurses’ Lived Experiences Caring for Covid-19 Patients

Abstract

Nurses played an important role during the outbreak of corona-virus and this pandemic crisis had a negative impact in the health of the individuals, specifically the nurses caring for the infected patients. This study focused on exploring and describing the lived experiences of nurses caring for patients with the coronavirus-19 disease at Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital-Gabriela Silang (ISPH-GS)in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Understanding the condition of nurses towards their physical, mental and emotional while caring infected patients due to the virus will help the supervisors and institution to address this concern.  Phenomenological approach was utilized to understand the nurse’s experiences, procedures, processes, and events they observed in the natural setting of taking care of patients with covid-19, the approach also provide detailed information on how the nurses interact and lived while caring for the covid-19 infected patients.
