Growth and Yield Performance of Four Groundnut Cultivars under Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur Conditions

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the growth and yield performance of four groundnut cultivars in the Experimental Farm at Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur. Significant difference between cultivars was also verified. It was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design and replicated three times. Groundnut cultivars evaluated were Ilocos Pink, Asha and two landraces. All the data gathered were computed, tabulated and analysed using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) of Randomized Complete Block Design. Further test for the significant differences among treatments was subjected to Honest Significant Difference Test. Results showed that the agronomic and economic performances of four peanut varieties significantly different under the Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur condition. In terms of growth performance, Ilocos pink cultivar significantly better than the other cultivars. Ilocos Pink also gave the highest yield performance as manifested by number of seeds per pod, yield per hectare, net income and ROI.
