Abstract

Conducted during the academic year 2021-2022, this descriptive-correlational study aimed to determine the performance of Grade 11 students in Oral Communication in Context subject in terms of content and skill. Furthermore, it also determined the factors contributing to students' performance, the Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) competence of teachers teaching the subject, and the relationship between the performance of students and the TPACK competence of teachers as bases in developing e-learning resource portal. It utilized a teacher-made test to determine the level of students’ performance along with content and rubric as to skills. An interview was done to determine the factors affecting their level of performance, and an adapted questionnaire as tools to determine the teachers’ level of TPACK. Results revealed that students' level of performance in Oral Communication in Context is approaching proficient. The factors contributing to their performance emerged as student-related factors (i.e., lack of self-motivation and self-confidence) and teacher-related factors (i.e., lack of time in material preparation). The teachers have advanced levels of TPACK proficiency, and there is no correlation between their proficiency levels and students' performance levels. In order to enhance pedagogy and facilitate teaching and learning that is in line with the demands of the times, the paper emphasizes the importance of creating an e-learning resource portal which is designed to provide access to various multimedia materials that can be used as supplemental to teaching and learning Oral Communication in Context subject.
