Abstract
In the Philippines, a number of studies were conducted related to folklore and its cultural significance but few explored the content analyses of unpublished folk literature. In such context, this study invested its resources into collecting, compiling, analyzing, and translating the undocumented folklores of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. The study identified 12 literary pieces that were retold by or adopted from culture bearers. Interestingly, content analysis employing Formalism as an approach to literary criticism revealed that these literary pieces possess literary devices that surface their organic unity. Hence, the people of Cervantes preserve their folklores amidst technological and societal advancement and change.
