Abstract: The power inherent in students' original poetry unleashes their writing potential and liberates their voices to address the problems confronting the postmodern world. This study aimed to interpret the signifiers, signifieds, hierarchical binary oppositions, and organic whole embedded in their unique compositions; and to determine how meanings are formed in the reader's view using the Saussurean Semiotic Lens. This study employed a qualitative descriptive research design to analyze and describe the students' original poems. Close reading and content analysis took place as the reader's instruments to develop a rigorous analysis of the poems. This study revealed that students' original compositions contain an abundance of signs and symbols that demonstrate their poetic abilities. The poems depict signs and symbols of realms of nature, objects, opposing societal tensions, a unified concept of persona, tone and mood, figurative language, symbolisms, and themes. Furthermore, the meanings of the signs and symbols in the poem convey the social issues and concerns that everyone faces. In addition, the study revealed that the correct use of interpretive tools shapes the reader's understanding of the text's meaning. The study concludes by recommending that English teachers should conduct literary interpretations of their students' works, that students must unleash the power of their writing by infusing it with their innermost thoughts, values, insights, and experiences, and by developing an appreciation for the profound semiotic constructs present in their poems; and that future researchers may conduct similar studies by expanding the study's problem.
