Art in Focus: ISSPC launches BCAED art exhibit, welcomes Former Congresswoman Singson

In line with its efforts to strengthen culture and arts education, the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) Main Campus held its first Art Exhibit today, May 23 at the Administrative Building. The exhibit, which showcased outputs from students enrolled in the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) program, served as a venue for students to highlight their artistic talents and creativity while demonstrating their learning and growth in their respective courses.

ISPSC President Dr. Mario P. Obrero personally welcomed Mrs. Grace G. Singson, former Congresswoman of the 2nd District of Ilocos Sur, who attended the event as a guest of honor. Singson, who also previously served as Mayor and City Administrator of Candon City, is the wife of incumbent Candon City Mayor, Hon. Eric D. Singson. She was joined by members of the Candon City Plantitas group, including former Northern Luzon Philippines State College (NLPSC) President Dr. Elizabeth M. Gacusana and former NLPSC Registrar Ms. Cristina Martinez.

As a painter herself, Singson organizes her own painting classes every Saturday in Candon, further fostering local artistic talent. In her message, she stated that she plans to support the museum proposed by Dr. Obrero, underscoring her dedication to preserving and promoting Ilocos Sur’s rich cultural heritage.

Dr. Obrero conveyed his gratitude for her visit, emphasizing that her presence demonstrated a strong commitment and support to nurturing youth potential and advancing the appreciation of local arts and culture.

The activity was organized through the initiative of Mrs. Joselita Viado, Director of Culture and the Arts, in coordination with her BCAED classes in Creative Industries as Culture and Arts Practice (Fourth Year), Visual Arts in Traditional Societies (Second Year), and Analysis and Critical Understanding of Visual Arts (Third Year).
