  • ISPSC celebrates 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary


    As a culmination of the institution’s pursuit for excellence in public service and internationalization efforts, the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College celebrated the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant Heroes,” at the ISPSC Main Campus Gymnasium on October 3, 2024.
    The first part of the celebration was a Holy Eucharistic Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Lovell Soller, Parochial Vicar of St. John Sahagun Parish.
    After the mass, the key officials took part in the ceremonial wine toasting and cake slicing which symbolized the unity embodied by the ISPSC employees and their commitment to realizing the vision and mission of the college.
    One of the highlights of the event is the “ISPSC Family Day: Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day” which was an opportunity for the employees to mingle with their colleagues from other campus and establish the spirit of camaraderie and oneness.
    Wearing their awe-inspiring Barong and Filipiniana attire, the employees entered the gymnasium as they march their way to the stage carrying the name of their respective campuses with pride.
    Main Campus Director Dr. Apolo S. Francisco delivered a heartwarming welcome remark that emphasized the contribution of every public servant from the institution.
    “Through our unwavering commitment, we have created a ripple effect that extends far beyond ourselves inspiring the generations to come,” Dr. Francisco expressed.
    As one of the prime movers in the fulfillment of ISPSC’s goals, the Officer-in-Charge to the Office of the President and the CHED Regional Director 1 Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, shared an inspirational message encouraging ISPSC public servants to reflect on what it means to be agile and transformative on their respective roles.
    “Agility in our work means cultivating an environment that embraces solutions over problems,” Dr. Ferrer mentioned.
    She also pointed out that being a public servant means being conduit of transformation embracing the challenge of a future-forward approach and nurturing a culture that makes a room for new ideas and robust decisions.
    “We always have to be mindful of our responsibilities as public servants, commitment to our duties, integrity in our actions, and loyalty to the public that we serve,” she added.
    With Dr. Ferrer’s speech as a prelude to another highlight of the program, the Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Dominador A. Ayson, Jr. led the presentation and awarding of loyalty awardees with 10,15, 20,25, and 30 years of commendable commitment to championing public service as ISPSC employees.
    Another significant milestone of the college worth celebrating is its inclusion in the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI).Internationalization Director Ms. Maria Ana Ilagan presented the awards which included the following: 1) Rank 15th in Support for Global Resilience; 2) Rank 29th in Entrepreneur Spirit; 3) Rank 39th in Industrial Application; and 4) Rank 298th in Most Innovative Universities.
    Meanwhile, ISO Director Dr. Corazon Q. Quitevis shared the highlights of the ISO Journey of the college that resulted to the successful ISO recertification. The ISO process owners from the different campuses were recognized as contributors in the quality assurance endeavors of the college.
    Vice President for Research, Extension, and Internationalization Dr. Anabelle B. Francisco presented the nature and importance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and how ISPSC community can help in achieving these goals. Afterwards, the ISPSC employees took part in the SGD commitment signing.
    Concluding the program, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Marie D. Barroga stated in her closing remarks that ISPSC public servants are the true embodiments of serving with integrity.
    “These recognitions [WURI awards and ISO recertification] are testaments to the hard work, innovation, and commitment of each member of our ISPSC family. Let this be a reminder that we are capable of achieving great feats together as we continuously strive for excellence,” Dr. Barroga concluded.#
