  • ISPSC advances in THE Impact Rankings 2026, improves global standing in sustainability performance

    The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College recorded a significant improvement in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, advancing to the 1001-1500 band from its previous 1501+ placement in 2025.

    The improved ranking reflects ISPSC’s growing contribution to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its academic programs, research initiatives, extension services, and institutional governance. The results place the College among higher education institutions worldwide recognized for creating measurable social, economic, and environmental impact.

    Among its notable performances, ISPSC ranked 401-600 in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), highlighting its initiatives in sustainable agriculture, food security, and nutrition. The College also secured a 601-800 ranking in SDG 1 (No Poverty), demonstrating its efforts to support marginalized communities through extension and livelihood programs.

    Further, ISPSC earned a ranking of 801-1000 in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), recognizing its health-related services and wellness initiatives. The institution likewise posted 1001+ ranking in SDG 4 (Quality Education) and 1001-1500 ranking in SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), reflecting the accessibility of education and collaborative engagement in advancing sustainable development.

    ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero personally received the certificate of recognition during the Global Sustainable Development Congress at Jakarta, Indonesia. 

    As ISPSC continues its journey toward becoming the University of Ilocos Philippines, the institution remains committed to expanding contributions through teaching, research, stewardship, and outreach that create impact to the communities. (MVB)
