Creators not Seekers
This is the gist of the lecture delivered by the renowned son of Sta Maria, Ilocos Sur, Dr. Wilma D. Dar. The former ICRISAT Executive Director and DA Secretary emphasized that courses (curricula) in higher education should be hybridized with the idea of entreprenuership so that students and/or graduates will be creators of job, not just mere seekers. This vision according to him will not only provide greater oppotunities for profit making for those who will take the entreprenuerial path but will also aid in helping the country solve some of its social issues such as poverty, food shortage and malnutrition, population explosion, climate change, land degradation and fossil fuel depletion.
