The  Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, led by ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero joined higher education leaders, institutions, and international partners at the Higher Education Partnerships Conference (HEPCON) 2026, held at the Radisson Blu Cebu on October 1–2, 2026.

Alongside President Obrero were Dr. Ranec Azarias, Director for Internationalization; and Dr. Reymart G. Ballocanag, Chief for International Linkages and World Ranking.

Hosted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), HEPCON 2026 served as a platform for HEIs/ SUCs, government agencies, international organizations, and industry stakeholders to build networks and explore potential partnerships. The conference featured keynote presentations, panel discussions, an education exhibition, and business-to-business meetings focused on strengthening collaboration across higher education.

Among the key discussions during the two-day conference were ASEAN higher education collaboration, international partnerships, student mobility, artificial intelligence and future skills, global visibility and institutional reputation, international research partnerships, and the development of meaningful partnerships beyond memoranda of understanding.

The conference also provided dedicated opportunities for participating institutions to explore MoU signings, partnership arrangements, and one-on-one meetings with potential institutional partners, supporting the development of international networks among higher education institutions.

Through such initiatives, ISPSC continues to expand its exposure to emerging practices and opportunities in higher education while building connections that may contribute to institutional internationalization and global visibility, reflecting its commitment and support towards Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education and Partnerships for the Goals.
