  • UIP celebrates 2nd President’s Day

    STA. MARIA, ILOCOS SUR - For the second time, the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), now University of Ilocos Philippines (UIP), has celebrated the second year in the presidency of Dr. Gilbert R. Arce, July 7, 2022.

    The celebration highlighted several activities that included the blessing and inauguration of the state-of-the-art library, the newly constructed laboratory building, and the recirculatory dryer facility in Sta. Maria Campus.

    Another highlight of the celebration was Dr. Arce’s State of the College Address (SOCA) where he elaborated on the various accomplishments and plans in the areas of universityhood, curricular reforms, enrollment, research, extension and community outreach, global positioning (internationalization program), physical transformation, human resource development, quality assurance (accreditation and ISO), income-generating projects, student affairs and services, intellectual property, and social responsiveness.

    The President, then, accepted well wishes and messages from special guests, including Dr. Armando Ganal, DOST Region 1 Regional Director, Dr. Elizabeth Gacusana, former President of the North Luzon Philippines State College (NLPSC), Dr. Alejandrino Directo, former President of then ISAC whose message was read by Dr. Ana Marie Barroga, Hon. Brigido Camarillo, Mayor of Sta. Maria, Mr. Martin Allayban, Provincial Director of BFAR Ilocos Sur, Mr. Constantino Umipig, Alumni Trustee, Mrs. Aida Alita, Faculty Trustee, and Mr. Rodney Justine Lapitan, student trustee, among others. The different campuses also gave their tokens of gratitude to Dr. Arce as their way of appreciating his leadership in transforming the University into what it is today.

    The celebration culminated with the mini-lympics of the employees in the afternoon where various games that included Laro ng Lahi (i.e., Maria Went to Town, Kadang-Kadang, Tiyakad, and Sack Race) and ball games (i.e., basketball and volleyball) were played.
