  • MMSU-FAI hosts Benchmarking Activity for ISPSC-FFU

The Mariano Marcos State University Faculty Association, Inc. (MMSU-FAI) hosted a significant benchmarking activity for the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College Federated Faculty Union(ISPSC-FFU) on February 25, 2025. The event was strategically organized coinciding with the participation of both higher education institutions in the ongoing SCUAA-1 Games and PASUC-1 Festival at MMSU.

The gathering began with welcome remarks from Dr. Edrian D. Saraos, Vice President of the MMSU-FAI. Dr. Saraos emphasized the importance of collective growth, stating, “We believe that together, we can strengthen the frameworks that support the growth and well-being of our faculty members, and remain steadfast in our commitment to advocate for the rights and professional development of our educators.”

The session continued with Dr. Annjeanette Alain D. Galang, Secretary of MMSU-FAI, who introduced the participants from MMSU.

Following that, Dr. Daniel Juan B. Ramirez, President of ISPSC-FFU, the one who requested for the historic activity, presented the ISPSC participants. The ISPSC delegation included Main Campus-FA President Dr. Rico Gagto, Narvacan Campus-FA President Atty. Jose Q. Cabatu, Mr. Lito Valle representing Santiago Campus-FA President Mrs. Lilia Bambico, and Mr. Ralph Nicole Sevilla representing Candon Campus-FA President Dr. Annie Dorada.

Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., the newly elected President of MMSU, delivered an inspiring speech about the power of collaboration. He emphasized that collaboration is key and highlighted that the focus should no longer be on competing at the local level, but rather on competing on the global stage.

The event also featured a presentation of the MMSU-FAI Corporate Video, showcasing the best practices and initiatives of the faculty association. Among the key activities presented were: Rise Up with our SQs (Spiritual Quotient); Certificate of Registration for Collective Negotiation Agreement (CAN); Strategic Planning for FAI Executive Officers and Board of Directors; Group Insurance from GSIS; Creation of 60 items for Instructor positions: PRAISE Award for Faculty Members Participation in National Government Employees’ Week Celebration; POWER-ful Work Life Integration Program; MMSU FAIskolar Program; and Employees’ Day and Teachers’ Day Celebration.

The POWER-ful Work Life Integration Program was one of the highlights, focusing on achieving a balanced life by nurturing physical health, mental well-being, social support, spiritual wellness, and resilience.

Dr. Nelie S. Salvador, Treasurer of MMSU-FAI, further explained the association’s benefits, including medical, retirement, separation, death aid, and FAIskolar (Faculty Scholarship) benefits, which provide valuable support to faculty members.

The ISPSC-FFU also contributed to the event by sharing their own practices, and both groups engaged in an open forum to discuss faculty concerns and exchange insights between the two institutions.

This benchmarking activity between MMSU-FAI and ISPSC-FFU has set for more collaboration in the future, with a shared commitment to advancing faculty welfare and development in the SUCs involved.
