  • ISPSC Panthers thrive in 2022 ASCU-SN; snatch top places in sports, cultural events

    STA. MARIA, ILOCOS SUR - As the 2022 Friendship Games of the Association of State Colleges and Universities-Solid North (ASCU-SN) rolled from July 19 to 23, 2022, the ISPSC Panthers roared in delight as they bagged various awards in different sports and cultural events. 

    For the badminton women category, 45 years old and below, Ms. Angelica Lapitan of Tagudin Campus was the champion for singles B, while Ms. Ana Mae Desono of Sta. Maria Campus ranked third in singles A. 

    Meanwhile, ISPSC got the 10th spot in the overall ranking in chess, with Mr. Rodelio Rodriguez of Sta. Maria Campus bagging a second place in Board 3 and Mr. Michael Vincent Holmes of Santiago Campus bringing home third place in Board 4. 

    In the basketball men category, 45 years old and below, ISPSC placed third in the overall ranking. 

    In cycling, three athletes from ISPSC placed six in each of their respective events Mr. Geneboy Divina of Sta. Maria Campus for the 44 km, 36-45 years old category; Dr. William Pedro of Tagudin Campus for the 34 km, 46-55 years old category; and Mrs. Gina Mendoza of Narvacan Campus for the 24 km, women open category. 

    For athletics, ISPSC ranked third in the men's category and fourth in the women's category for the 4x100m relay, 46 years old and above. The men team included Mr. Jonathan Banang of Tagudin Campus and Mr. Larry Duro, Mr. Leomar Guzman, and Mr. Geneboy Divina from Sta. Maria Campus, while the women's team was composed of Ms. Menchi Marzo of Candon Campus and Dr. Marites Peralta, Dr. Perlita Tomas, and Dr. Anna Marie Barroga of Sta. Maria Campus. 

    The stage of victory was earlier set by the first runner-up placement of the ISPSC Show Choir in their rendition of the “Nosi Balasi” on the evening of July 20. Then, Ms. Jamie Joyce Dangle was crowned Ms. ASCU-SN 2022 on the night of July 21. On the same date, The ISPSC Pop Dance crew grabbed the first runner-up rank in the Pop Dance Competition.
