  • ISPSC opens Main Campus food court, establishes DTI-OTOP stall and ISPSC canteen

    The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College officially inaugurated its newly improved Main Campus Food Court on August 3, 2026, which aims to serve as a hub for local entrepreneurship and student wellness.

    ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero underscored the University's commitment to continuously upgrading campus infrastructure in support of quality education and holistic student development, in his message. “In the modern world of education, our students need a sanctuary where they can rest, and recharge. This food court is more than just a place to consume, this food court is more than a hub where students, faculty, staff and visitors could brainstorm highlighting the letter “U” in our core values which is “Unity”. 

    Adding significance to the occasion, Atty. Karen Joy Lozano, Candon City Councilor and representative of Candon City Government  expressed her gratitude to the realization of the institution to the projects that benefit the students, teachers and staff. 

    Following the inspirational messages, guests and university officials participated in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting before the food court received its formal blessing officiated by Rev. Fr. Geronimo Realin, Parochial Vicar of San Juan de Sahagun Parish.

    The event was attended by the Dr. Filipinas M. Gasalao, Vice President for Finance and Administration; Dr. Jonathan L. Dela Cruz, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Jocelyn L. Absolor, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension; Dr. Sheryl S. Morata, Campus Director of the Main Campus; Ms. Emma Tobias, Director for Auxiliary Services; Ms. Czarina P. Lozano, Chief of Enterprise and Facilities Management Services; and other university officials, deans, faculty, and staff.

    One of the highlights of the opening was the integration of the ISPSC–DTI One Town, One Product (OTOP)  initiative within the food court, providing a venue where locally produced products can be promoted and appreciated by the university community and visitors. In addition,  a stall for ISPSC Canteen which reinforces ISPSC's commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs while exposing students to community-based enterprise and innovation.

    More than simply a dining area, the Main Campus Food Court now serves as a multifunctional space that encourages student interaction, and engagement while supporting the University's vision of becoming a globally competitive, and locally responsive state university. (MVB)
