ISPSC Students clinch gold and silver at 2025 CBRC National Quiz Bee

Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College continues to raise the bar of academic excellence as two of its student representatives emerged victorious at the 2025 Carl Balita Review Center (CBRC) National Teacher Education Quiz Bee, held on May 16, 2025 at the San Andres Sports Complex, Malate, Manila.

Mr. Jan Andrei Manzano, a fourth-year student from the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at ISPSC Main Campus, clinched a Gold Medal. Joining him on the podium was Mr. Rogelio Castro Jr., a fourth-year student of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics from the ISPSC Santa Maria Campus, who secured a Silver Medal.

ISPSC President Dr. Mario P. Obrero expressed his pride in the recent achievement. "This accomplishment is a testament to the strength of our academic programs and the dedication of our faculty and students.” He further stressed that he is proud of Mr. Manzano and Mr. Castro for representing ISPSC with excellence.

The two student achievers were coached by Dr. Ryle Dagdag and CTE Faculty of ISPSC Main & Sta. Maria Campus, whose mentorship and commitment significantly contributed to their success. Their preparation was further enriched by the support of the Carl Balita Review Center Candon Branch, particularly Mr. Jan Laid Palad, who guided them through intensive review sessions and academic coaching.

With 111 participating colleges and universities from across the country, the quiz bee held during a national gathering of future educators recognized the Top 5 winners and gold, silver, and bronze medalists.

The CBRC National Teacher Education Quiz Bee is a prestigious annual competition that gathers the brightest and most promising education students from across the country. It serves as a platform to promote academic excellence and recognize the future educators of the nation.
