ISPSC Run for UIP unites campuses and community in historic Narvacan event

In a show of unity and college pride, alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members came together to support Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College’s ongoing journey toward university hood.

The Federated Alumni Association (FAA), in cooperation with ISPSC, hosted the first-ever ISPSC Run for UIP today, May 24, at the ISPSC Narvacan Campus. With a total of 631 runners, the event marked the highest number of participants ever recorded in any activity held at ISPSC Narvacan, highlighting strong community support for the college’s vision and commitment to becoming a university.

In his message, ISPSC President Dr. Mario P. Obrero expressed enthusiasm over the college’s first collaboration with the alumni organization. He emphasized that the event not only unites all ISPSC campuses but also “strengthens the bond between the college and the community.”  He added that beyond promoting physical fitness, the run serves as a meaningful way to build connections with ISPSC’s stakeholders.

Additionally, Hon. William D. Dar, FAA President and ISPSC Alumni Trustee, underscored the run’s deeper significance. “This activity is part of our ongoing journey toward becoming a university. It’s about unifying and strengthening the entire ISPSC system,” he stated. He also added that, as the alumni representative to the board, they are strong partners with Dr. Obrero and his administration particularly on ISPSC’s role in nation building.

Atty. Jose Q. Cabatu, ISPSC Narvacan Campus Director, also stated that the event aimed to foster unity among the various campuses and strengthen the sense of community within ISPSC. Meanwhile, Mr. Francis Canosa, FAA Vice President for External Affairs and Race Director, extended his gratitude to all participants, describing the event as a celebration of unity and shared purpose.
