    ISPSC holds 2nd State of the Students Address, highlights student leadership and accomplishments

    The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) gathered students, faculty, and administrators for the 2nd State of the Students’ Address (SOSA), spotlighting student-led initiatives and the accomplishments of various campus organizations on May 20, 2025 at ISPSC Sta. Maria Campus.

    Led by the Supreme Student Council (SSC), the event highlighted the vital role of student leadership in shaping campus life. Hon. Alvin Jay Tobias, FSSC President, delivered the main address, presenting the council’s key projects, progress, and ongoing efforts to enhance student engagement and representation.

    ISPSC President Dr. Mario Obrero encouraged students to lead with integrity, vision, and responsibility, emphasizing that leadership is not only about achievements but also about “making a positive impact on others”. Having served as Vice President for Student and External Affairs at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), he said that he understood the challenges student leaders face. With this, he reaffirmed the administration’s support for student initiatives and called on student leaders to help drive positive change on campus and in their communities.

    Campus administrators expressed their support and appreciation for the work of student organizations. Dr. Joemar Cabradilla, Dean of Student Affairs and Services, emphasized the value of active student involvement. Campus Director of ISPSC Sta. Maria Campus Dr. Francisco Divina acknowledged the creativity and resilience of student leaders. Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Marie Barroga stressed the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities, while Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Dominador Ayson Jr. reiterated the institution’s continued backing for student programs.

    Student organization presidents also gave brief presentations on their group’s achievements and initiatives. These included community outreach efforts, sustainability projects, teacher training programs, technology workshops, and leadership development activities which demonstrate the diversity and impact of student-led work across disciplines.

    The 2nd SOSA served as a platform to celebrate student achievements and strengthen collaboration between students and administrators.
