NEWS Transforming Capabilities to Competencies: ISPSC Strategic Planners showcase workshop outputs

Applying the insightful knowledge shared by Col. Diosdado Carlos D. Pambid and Dr. Edwin Chinel Monares, the participants of the ISPSC Strategic Planning 2025 presented their outputs, demonstrating their commitment to the transformation of the college into the University of Ilocos Philippines (UIP), in a workshop held in Baguio City, June 19, 2025.

Grouped according to key institutional functions, Academics, Research, Extension, Administration, and Internationalization, the participants conducted SWOT analysis to lay the foundation for UIP’s development goals and align with the strategic roadmap crafted by President Mario P. Obrero.

VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Filipinas M. Gasalao presented the strategies under Academics, while VP for Research and Extension Dr. Jocelyn L. Absolor led the presentation for Research and Extension. Administrative strategic actions were divided into two areas: Human Resource Management, presented by Dr. Dhana Malamion, Director for Human Resource, and Ethical Governance presented by Dr. Allan Ramos, Campus Director of Santiago Campus. For the Internationalization, Mr. Ephraine Hyacinth R. Chavez, Chief of the Radio Program Division (Santa Maria Campus) under the Strategic Communications and Institutional Branding Office, delivered their group’s analysis and strategic development.

Meanwhile, Dr. Monares offered valuable feedback and suggestions for strengthening each pillar of the strategic plan, with key takeaways including the importance of distinguishing between capabilities and competencies, and the need for continuous monitoring and coaching.

With the active involvement of the Administrative Council in shaping UIP's future, President Obrero’s 2030 roadmap sets the course for a visionary plan geared to transform the ISPSC community. (RNS)
