NEWS ISPSC Cervantes Campus holds 3rd PanagYaman Excellence Awards

Honoring the individuals and organizations whose commitment and excellence stand worthy of victorious praises, ISPSC Cervantes Campus held its 3rd PanagYaman Excellence Awards, radiating appreciation and pride for a year of achievements at the Cervantes Municipal Gymnasium, June 20, 2025.

Rooted in the Ilocano word "Panagyaman," meaning thankfulness,” the annual event marked a tradition recognizing and acknowledging faculty, staff, student organizations, academic achievers, board passers, and outgoing SSC officers and newly elected student leaders for their invaluable contribution to the ISPSC community.

The ceremony was graced by key institutional leaders including Dr. Filipinas M. Gasalao, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Jocelyn L. Absolor, Vice President for Research and Extension; Dr. Jonathan L. Dela Cruz, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Ms. Lorebel S. Domingo, College Registrar.

Adding significance to the evening was the presence of Hon. Atty. Mary Joyce P. Maggay, newly elected Mayor of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, who served as Guest of Honor. A proud alumna herself, Atty. Maggay led the oathtaking of the new SSC officers, marking a symbolic handover of leadership and responsibility to the next generation of student leaders. In her message, she encouraged the students to serve with heart and always look back with gratitude.

Following her, Dr. Absolor delivered a message that highlighted the importance of persistence, reminding everyone that while awards and titles are milestones, the real measure of success lies in finishing strong—graduating, passing the board exam, and making a difference.

The program continued with a heartfelt speech from Mr. Jason Alejandro D. Isang, an educator at La Trinidad National High School and a 2022 BSED alumnus of the college. As the guest speaker, Mr. Isang shared his personal journey from student to teacher, emphasizing the importance of staying focused on one’s goals, respecting mentors, and choosing friends who uplift and inspire.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding LET passers, who delivered testimonial speeches that echoed perseverance and faith, whose stories reminded everyone that success is earned not just through hard work, but also through belief in oneself and in the support of a community.

Dr. Heidi Joy P. Baustisa, Campus Director of ISPSC Cervantes Campus, extended her congratulations to the awardees and blessings to the entire community, while leaving a stirring challenge to the next generation of trailblazers.

The 3rd PanagYaman Excellence Awards stood as a tribute to the dedicated individuals behind ISPSC Cervantes’ ongoing journey of growth as it plays a significant part in the transformation of the college into the University of Ilocos Philippines. (The Joe Estipular)
