  • ISPSC recognizes employees for excellence in service

The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) honored the dedication and contributions of its employees through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) during the Employees’ Day celebration held as part of the institution’s 28th Charter Day festivities on March 12.

The award ceremonies recognized faculty members, administrators, and staff whose exemplary performance and commitment to public service continue to advance the College’s mission to produce globally competent and virtuous professionals.

The recognition program brought together the ISPSC community from its seven campuses, led by President Mario P. Obrero; Dr. Filipinas M. Gasalao, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Jonathan Dela Cruz, Vice President for Finance and Administration; and Dr. Jocelyn Absolor, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension. Directors, campus directors, and faculty and staff members were also in attendance.

In his message, Dr. Obrero highlighted the unity and shared purpose that define the institution.
“ISPSC is composed of seven campuses, each with its own strength, culture, and identity. We come from different towns, different academic traditions, and different professional paths. In Ilocano, we might say we come from different 'tabas iti sabasabali a tela'. Yet when these strands are woven together, they create something stronger, more resilient, and more beautiful. This is the very essence of our institution,” he emphasized.

Hon. Eric D. Singson, Candon City Mayor, extended his congratulations to the ISPSC community and encouraged the institution to continue strengthening its standards of excellence.

“Congratulations on the 28th Charter Day celebration, but I offer you a challenge to continue raising the bar of excellence and commitment so that ISPSC can become the best institution it can be,” Hon. Singson said.

Also extending support to the institution was Hon. Kristine Singson-Meehan, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, represented during the event by Hon. Ericson Singson, Member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the 2nd District of Ilocos Sur.
In her message, Hon. Meehan emphasized the importance of collective effort in sustaining the institution’s growth.

“Together, we can ensure that this institution continues to flourish and produce leaders, professionals, and innovators who will contribute to the progress of our province and our country,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Alejandro V. Directo, the first President of ISPSC, stressed the importance of values in building a strong institution, encouraging employees to serve with what he called SMILE: "Sincerity" in service, "Morality" in character, "Integrity" in leadership, "Loyalty" to the institution and its mission, and "Efficiency and Effectiveness".

The program also featured a keynote address from Dir. Marina N. Garcia, Director II of the Civil Service Commission Ilocos Sur Field Office, who underscored the importance of performing one’s duties with excellence.

She also highlighted the significance of the evening’s attire, explaining that ABEL represents Achievement, Brilliance, Empowerment, and Legacy, and that the PRAISE awardees serve as models within the institution.

Guests present during the celebration included Atty. Caren Joy Lozano, former Private Sector Representative, and Mr. Jomar Dayap, Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office.

In addition to the PRAISE recognition, special awards and Presidential citations were also conferred to individuals and groups whose contributions have significantly supported the institution’s growth and service to the community.

The celebration also featured the Best in Iloco Attire awards, given to Dr. Reymart Ballocanag (Male Category), Ms. Claire Tamayo (Female Category), and Mx. Eduardo Garcia Jr. (LGBTQ+ Category).

Through the PRAISE program, ISPSC continues to foster a culture of recognition, honoring employees whose dedication, innovation, and commitment to public service strengthen the institution and support the delivery of quality education and services.

Anchored on the guiding principle “Sapientia et Virtus in Posterum” - Wisdom and Virtue for the Future, the event celebrated the College’s commitment to recognizing employees whose passion and service help shape the institution’s path forward. (MVB)
