ISPSC holds Search for 5th College President Public Forum

 The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) hosted a public forum for the selection of its 5th College President at the Main Campus Gymnasium, March 10.

The forum served as a platform for the ISPSC community to gain insight into the future direction of the institution, with the selection of the next College President set to shape the institution’s trajectory in the coming years.

Four candidates vying for the presidency—Dr. Joel B. Lopez, Dr. Arnel C. Doctolero, Dr. Mario P. Obrero, and Dr. Anabelle B. Francisco came together to present their vision and leadership plans.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing that the selection is not just about qualifications but about competence, leadership, integrity, focus, and commitment to ISPSC’s journey.

Search Committee for President (SCP) Chairperson Dr. Elsa P. Manarpaac presented the members of the SCP and oriented the attendees on the guidelines of the public forum.

Each aspirant was given 15 minutes to introduce themselves and outline their plans for the institution’s future.

Dr. Joel B. Lopez opened the presentations, envisioning ISPSC as a globally recognized, vibrant, and emerging premier university by 2029.

 Dr. Arnel C. Doctolero followed, anchoring his leadership on the philosophy of empowering minds, shaping futures, and transforming societies.

Dr. Mario P. Obrero presented his vision of ISPSC becoming a smart, globally competitive, and responsive state university by 2030.

Lastly, Dr. Anabelle B. Francisco, outlined her vision of ISPSC as a transnational university and a key player in sustainable research and innovation by 2029.

Following the presentations, the candidates faced an open forum consisting of three rounds of questioning, allowing stakeholders to engage with their proposed plans.

Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the President, delivered her closing remarks, thanking the presidential aspirants for embracing the challenge and for aspiring to lead the institution.

The forum served as a platform for the ISPSC community to gain insight into the future direction of the institution, with the selection of the next College President set to shape the school’s trajectory in the coming years.

In the afternoon, the presidential candidates were put to the test during a panel interview, where they answered a series of questions from the SCP.

The culmination of the search will be the election of the 5th ISPSC President, who will be chosen by the Board of Trustees, considering the recommendations of the SCP based on the public forum and panel interview.
