  • CHED, LandBank reinforce commitment to education through scholarship orientation and grant distribution at ISPSC

A total of 854 scholarship grantees from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Nicosat Colleges, and St. Mary's College of Sta. Maria gathered at the ISPSC Main Campus Gymnasium today for the distribution of scholarship allowances, opening of grantees’ accounts, and the conduct of a beneficiary orientation for the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) and Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES).

The activity provided financial assistance to students while ensuring that all beneficiaries fully understood the scholarship program, including its guidelines, responsibilities, and benefits

In partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines, grantees were also assisted in opening their accounts to facilitate a more efficient and convenient release of scholarship allowances. The initiative primarily sought to lessen the use of checks and paper transactions, promoting a faster, safer, and more organized distribution system.

The orientation likewise strengthened awareness among grantees regarding the importance of academic responsibility and compliance with program requirements.

CHED R1 Chief Education Program Specialist Dr. Danilo B. Bose and Education Supervisor II Mrs. Catherine C. Chan attended the activity and emphasized the significance of educational assistance in empowering students and promoting accessible quality education.

Meanwhile, Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Regional Coordinators Ms.Joselle C. Gurion, Mr. Jenver Duclayan, and Mr. Marlon Padua oversaw the smooth conduct of the distribution and orientation process.

UniFAST is the umbrella program of CHED through which scholarship programs like TES and TED are operationalized.

Dr. Mario P. Obrero also graced the event and expressed his support for programs that help students continue their education and pursue their academic goals despite financial challenges. He was accompanied by the Director  for Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program, Microcredentials, TVET, and Scholarships Dr. Riccie Elaine V. Gammad.

The successful conduct of the event reflected the continued collaboration among educational institutions, government agencies, and financial institutions in supporting students through scholarship opportunities and accessible financial assistance programs. Furthermore, it showcases ISPSC’s commitment to deliver inclusive and progressive student support systems. (Jim Swift - STRATCOM Intern)
