  • ISPSC hosts Regional Echo Training on Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator Masterclass

    The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, through its Research, Extension, and Development Office, welcomed participants from higher education institutions across Region I for the Regional Echo Training on the Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator Masterclass (ATBI-MC) held on June 10–11, 2026 at the ISPSC Main Campus.

    The two-day training commenced through a message by Dr. Jocelyn Absolor, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development of ISPSC, emphasizing the importance of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship in advancing the agri-aqua sector and empowering academic institutions to become catalysts of sustainable development.

    Dr. Angelina T. Gonzales, Vice President for Research, Extension, Commercialization, and Innovation of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), encouraged participants "to lead, to serve, and to share," emphasizing the important role of higher education institutions in advancing innovation, technology commercialization, and community development through Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubators.

    Joining the program was Dr. Dionisio S. Bucao, Program Leader of RAISE Region I, who inspired the participants with his message that "the future belongs to us," highlighting the value of collaboration, innovation, and shared commitment in strengthening the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem and fostering sustainable development through technology business incubation.

    The orientation of the program and presentation of activities were facilitated by Prof. Victoria N. Malaya, Project Leader of DMMMSU RAISE ATBI, who provided participants with an overview of the objectives, learning sessions, and expected outcomes of the masterclass.

    The lecture proper featured Ms. Lei Frances E. Ribac, Project Leader of MMSU Dap-ayan, who discussed the ATBI Feasibility Study, highlighting the essential components of establishing viable and sustainable technology business incubators. This was followed by a lecture on ATBI Business Plan delivered by Prof. Victoria N. Malaya, equipping participants with practical strategies in developing business models and incubation frameworks for agri-aqua enterprises.

    The second day focus with the discussion of the ATBI operations manual by Ms. Eden P. Borce, Project Manager of DMMMSU ATBI and technology pitching by Ms. Ribac, followed by a workshop and presentation of outputs.

    Also present during the activity were ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero; Dr. Arlene Ablog, Project Leader of IP - TBM RAISE; Ms. Florence Sembrano, Director for Alumni Association;  Dr. Desa Abaya, Chief for Innovation and Technology Transfer; Dr. Rosemarie Pascua, Dean of CBME-Tagudin Campus; Dr. Joanna Guarin, Dean CBME- Sta. Maria Campus; Ms. Diana Grace L. Francisco, Research Assistant IP-TBM RAISE; and Dr. Tricia Gundran, Research Coordinator of the Main Campus whose participation further strengthened ISPSC's commitment to research commercialization, innovation, and technology business incubation initiatives.
