  • ISPSC-RDE expands research collaboration with PDA-Ilocos Sur

    The Office of the Vice President for Research, Development and Extension of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), spearheaded by Dr. Jocelyn L. Absolor, and the Philippine Dental Association–Ilocos Sur Chapter, Inc. (PDA-ISC) are set to strengthen collaboration in research and community health initiatives through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

    The signing was led by ISPSC President Mario P. Obrero, and Dr. Lourdes Filarca-Corpuz, President of PDA-Ilocos Sur and witnessed by Dr. Mandy Roie A. Atendido, Chief of Research Ethics Committee; Ms. Jeneli Q. Wong, Chief of Rural Health Program Implementation and Outreach; Dr. Cecilia R. Vergara, Chief of Rural Health Systems Research; Mr. Modesto N. Noble, Chief of Health Reform and Policy Advocacy. 

    Also in attendance from PDA - ISC, Inc. were Dr. Jomalyn Angel, outgoing President , Dr.  Angelica Christine Calamaan, incoming President of PDA - ISC, Inc., Dr. David Ignacio, Dr. Rommel Taqueban, Dr. Cheryl Ganaban, Dr. Shiela Paz Loraine Taqueban, Dr. Maricel Dela Cruz, Dr. Mabel Jane Loque, Dr. Charace Christine Ingusan, Dr. Ma. Norvilyn Abdon, and Dr. Lourdes Corpuz.

    The partnership establishes a framework for cooperation primarily focused on the conduct and funding of an approved research project addressing oral health, dental health, community health, health promotion, and other mutually agreed health-related concerns. 

    PDA-Ilocos Sur will provide ?5,000 in financial support for the approved ISPSC research project, while ISPSC, through its Center for Rural Health Research, Reform, and Policy, will oversee the implementation, administration, documentation, data management, and reporting of the research in accordance with applicable government regulations and institutional policies. The collaboration also brings together the research capabilities of ISPSC and the professional expertise of dental practitioners from PDA-Ilocos Sur. 

    ISPSC continues to build strategic partnerships that transform research and professional expertise into meaningful community impact which opens opportunities for future collaboration in community-based oral health promotion, other community engagement initiatives. (MVB)
